Robbers kill trader on resistance

GUJRANWALA, Oct 31: Robbers killed a trader on resistance near Alipur Chattha on Wednesday.

According to report reaching here, Zulfikar Awan and his brother Iftikhar Awan were going to Alipur Chattha from Fatehpur Chattha village on their motorcycle.

They were intercepted near College Road by two masked men. The robbers opened fire when Zulfikar identified one of the robbers and put up resistance.

The robbers snatched Rs2,000 from the injured Zulfikar at gunpoint and also took away the motorcycle. Zulfikar died on way to Alipur Chattha civil hospital.

On receiving information, police and people of the area chased the robbers who took refuge in paddy field and opened fire in the air. Later, the robbers managed to escape on foot.

Police registered the case and sent the body to the civil hospital for autopsy.

Traders of Alipur Chattha closed down their shops to protest against the killing of Zulfikar.

They resumed business when senior police officers assured them that the robbers would be arrested soon.

ROAD ACCIDENT: A student was killed in a road accident in Ghakkar Town on Wednesday.

According to details, Muhammad Nazim was going to Nat Kalan village from his college on a tractor. Nazim fell on the road when the hood of the tractor broke. He sustained head injuries and died on way to the civil hospital.
