ISLAMABAD, Oct 29: The Capital police, despite making all efforts, has failed to check the alarming increase in the rate of different crimes like murder, dacoity, car-theft and abduction/Zina.
According to the statistics, the number of cases registered in different categories, from January 1, 2001 to October 19, are: murder, 67; attempted murder, 75; hurt, 175; dacoity, 5; car- theft, 52, and Zina/kidnapping, 49.
In the corresponding period last year, the number of cases registered in these categories were: murder, 52; attempted murder, 75; hurt, 155; dacoity, 3; car-thefts, 44, and Zinz/abduction, 45.
The residents of Islamabad have also sighted some horrible daylight robberies, despite the police claims that the federal capital Islamabad is safe and they are doing well.
However, a decline had been noticed in the incidents of robbery, burglary, theft, motorcycle-theft, and non-fatal and fatal accidents during the current year. The number of cases registered in these categories, from January 1 to October 19, are: robbery, 44; burglary, 88; motorcycle-theft, 32; fatal accidents, 82, and non-fatal, 113.
The number of murder cases reported with different city police station during the period are: Sihala, 13; Golra, 10; I-9, 10; Barakahu, 9; Tarnol, 8; Aabpara, 4; Kohsar, 3, and Margalla, 3.
Statistics show, car-theft remained unchecked in the federal capital as 52 people had been deprived of their vehicles from January 1 to October 19. Whereas, 44 cases of car-theft had been reported with the police in the corresponding period last year.
The number of cars stolen from the areas of different police stations during are: Margalla, 14; I-9, 11; Kohsar, 8; Secretariat, 7; Aabpara, 5; Golra, 4; Sihala, 2, and Barakahu 1.
