India says no crossing of LoC

NEW DELHI, Oct 27: The Indian Defence Minister, Mr George Fernandes, said on Saturday that New Delhi would not cross the Line of Control (LoC) in pursuit of Kashmiri Mujahideen.

“We will not cross LoC in any case,” Fernandes said while talking to reporters in Pathankot, in occupied Kashmir, according to the Press Trust of India.

“If we did not do it during Kargil conflict, it is now not a question,” he said.

A week ago, Fernandes had said India would now be “ruthless” in tackling “terrorism” following a suicide bomb attack outside the held state’s legislature which killed 38 people.—AFP
