JUI to observe protest day tomorrow

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, Oct 27: The Jamiat Ulema-Islam (JUI-F) will observe a country-wide protest day on Monday on the appeal of Taliban supreme leader Mulla Mohammad Omar to denounce the US attacks on Afghanistan.

Acting JUI chief Maulana Abdul Ghani made this announcement, while speaking at a press conference here on Saturday evening.

Maulana Ghani said all religious parties would stage peaceful protest demonstrations and would take out rallies throughout the country to express solidarity with their Afghan brothers, who, he added, were being attacked by the US with cluster and chemical bombs and other weapons.

He called upon the people to join the scheduled rallies on Monday, saying that their participation in the protest rallies would encourage the Taliban, who were fighting bravely against the US and its allied countries.

The JUI leader said all demonstrations and protest rallies would be peaceful and there would be no strike on Monday. He announced that protest rallies, demonstrations and sits-in would be staged on Nov 2 in Lahore and other cities of the country.
