Indians wreak havoc along Working Boundary

By Our Correspondent

SIALKOT, Oct 26: Indian firing in villages near the Sialkot working boundary on Friday continued to torment the innocent.

Official sources said seven more animals were killed while at least 13 houses were damaged.

Harvesting of standing paddy was once again put to rout in the shelling.

Sources claimed Indians continued shelling on Chhumb, Joriyan and Bajwat sectors. However, most of the shells out of a total 60 fired by the Indians fell in the open and into River Tavi Munawar, they added.

Sialkot city, Cantonment, Daska, Sambrial, Wazirabad and Gujrat were once again jolted amid thunderclap.

The sources claimed the Chenab Rangers again thwarted four major Indian attempts of fencing Bajwat, Chhumb, Jammu and Shakargarh sectors, badly destroying four big defensive pillars of the enemy.

Traffic on the Sialkot-Bajwat-Chhumb Joriyan Road, Sialkot-Zafarwal-Shakargarh Road and Sialkot-Kingra-Bajragarhi Road reportedly remained suspended throughout the day.

Firing between the Rangers and the Indians stepped up in the sectors till last reports came in, the sources claimed.

Family court: All union councils in the district have been given the status of ‘family court’ under new devolution plan to ensure early solution to the public problems.

This was stated by Sialkot district Nazim Mian Naeem Javed while addressing people in an open kutchery in Jaamkey Cheema Town, Daska, on Thursday.

The Nazim said the devolution plan was a package meant to relieve people of day to day hardships. The formulation of justice and arbitrary committees was in progress, he added.

He maintained all the patwaries in the district were bound to be present in their respective offices once in a week for the purpose.

The people expressed concern over poor performance of the Jaamkey Cheema Town Committee and its failure to provide potable water to them.

Daska tehsil municipal officer (TMO) Rana Abdul Shakoor revealed around 45,000 people in the town had been without water for the last one month as Gepco authorities had disconnected all the three electricity connections of water turbines due to the non-payment of bills.

The Nazim directed the officials concerned to make early payment of dues and ordered a strict probe against a contractor for using substandard material in the construction of water supply scheme.

RALLY: People from various walks of life on Friday took out a rally in different parts of the district to condemn US strikes against Afghanistan.

The protesters chanted slogans against the forces and burnt the effigy of the US president.

Prayer leaders also passed a resolution in Sialkot and Narowal districts, speaking ill of the Pakistan government for supporting the US.

CASE: Acting on the report of the principal, Government Boys Degree College, Daska, a local police team registered a case against students Muhammad Naeem and Mudassar Ahmad for blocking the traffic on the Sialkot-Daska-Gujranwala Road.

Police have arrested the accused and are investigating.
