PESHAWAR, Oct 26: Pukhtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party demanded of US President George W. Bush to halt air strikes on Afghanistan and work out a political solution of the conflict.

The demand came during the party’s provincial committee meeting held here on Friday with Mukhtiar Khan Yousafzai in the chair.

The meeting supported the former king Zahir Shah’s peace formula, adding he could play a vital role in convening Loya Jirga.

It was suggested to establish a broad-based interim government in Kabul in which equal representation be given to all ethnic groups.

The PMAP called upon the neighbouring countries to stop intervention in Afghanistan and asked the government to open borders for Afghan refugees.
