HYDERABAD, Oct 25: Larkana defeated Shikarpur by an innings and eight runs on the second and last day of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Grade-II match at the Niaz Stadium Thursday.
Larkana’s left-arm spinner Abdul Raheem played havoc with the leather when he finished the match with figures of 10 for 43. He followed up his five for 15 with five for 28 as Shikarpur were sent spinning out for 112 after being forced to follow on.
Shikarpur, who had resumed this morning at 73 for seven while replying to Larkana’s 206, were earlier dismissed for 86 in their first innings.
NAWABSHAH BEAT SUKKUR
Nawabshah defeated Sukkur by ten wickets at Nawabshah Stadium Thursday, according to a message received here.
GUJRAT SCORE 277
A 109-run sixth wicket partnership between Azhar Mahmood and Abdur Rehman helped Gujrat to score 277 for eight in their allotted 65 overs on the first day of their Quaid Trophy Grade II match against Mianwali at the KRL Stadium.
Azhar hit up 54 and Rehman scored 62 as the two batsmen did well to thwart the rival attack in a 90-minute association. Other key scorers were Kashif Butt (37) and Muhammad Ali who remained not out on 34.
The Mianwali wicket-takers were Shakeel Khan, Shafiq Qudsi and Rizwan Ahmed, all of whom took two wickets each.
Mianwali, however, were in an unhappy position at the end of the day with 104 for 4 in 24.2 overs. Gujrat’s left arm fast bowler, Sagheer Ahmed inflicted the damage, claiming all four wickets and giving away just 16 runs in so doing.
CENTURIES BY NAFEES, RASHID
Mian Nafees and Rashid Hanif hit sparkling centuries as Sibi made a healthy 274 for four in 65 overs of their first innings on the first day regional final against Quetta at Regional Academy Ground Thursday.
By close Quetta had reached 89 for three in 23 overs with Mohtashim Rasheed and Abdul Hameed with 16 and 8 runs at the crease. Quetta are still 185 runs behind with seven wickets in hand.
Mian Nafees hit 109 with five boundaries and two sixes while Rashid Hanif smashed three sixes and four boundaries. The two were associated in a 204-run third wicket partnership in 163 minutes.
AFGHANISTAN LOSE
Haripur inflicted an eight wicket defeat on Afghanistan at the Gymkhana ground in Peshawar.
Afghanistan, after conceding an 84-run lead, post a decent 240 which left Haripur 160 for victory. The local team achieved victory in 28.3 overs losing two wickets.
RAHIMYAR KHAN RESTRICTED
Despite a fine opening stand of 114 between Rizwan Sattar (63) and Adil Basit (52) Rahimyar Khan were dismissed for 204 in first innings against Multan on first day of two-day regional Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Grade-II semi-final at the Mahmood Stadium, Rahimyar Khan, according to a message received here Thursday.
By the close of play, Multan were in satisfactory position having collected 156 runs for four wickets.
