KARACHI, Oct 25: The city administration on Thursday night reached an agreement with the Council for Defence of Pakistan and Afghanistan under which the religious parties would be allowed to take out a procession on Friday, says a press release.
The press release, which bears the signatures of Home Secretary Brig Mukhtar Ahmed and City Nazim Naimatullah Khan, says that after a five-hour-long meeting, which was also attended by the Sindh inspector general of police and the Karachi deputy inspector general of police, it was decided that the Council would be allowed to hold a march from Numaish to the pedestrian bridge near the Sea Breeze building. Afterwards, the participants of the march would disperse peacefully.
The city administration promised to make traffic arrangements.
The press release quotes the religious leaders as having appealed to the participants of the march to be peaceful.
Meanwhile, Traffic DIG Mohammad Yamin Khan announced that after Namaz-i-Juma the portion of M.A. Jinnah Road between Purani Numaish and Tibet Centre would remain closed to the vehicular traffic from 2pm to 6pm.
