Decision on fishing boats fee soon

By Saleem Shahid

QUETTA, Oct 23: The governor, Justice (retd) Amirul Mulk Mengal, has said that the governing body of Balochistan Coastal Development Authority would decide within a week whether to levy fee on fishing boats and trawlers or not.

He told this to a delegation headed by former federal minister and provincial president of PML-LM, Jam Mohammad Yousaf here on Tuesday.

The delegation, comprising District Nazim of district Lesbala Jam Kamal and representatives of fishermen, expressed its reservations on the authority’s suggestion about the imposition of fee on fishing boats and trawlers.

“No decision would be taken against the interest of the fishermen,” Justice Mengal said adding that all concerned Nazims and representatives of fishermen would be taken into confidence on the issue.

He said that the construction of jetty at Dam would start soon and that there were plans to construct a jetty at Gadani coastal line also.

Referring to the education sector the governor said that under the devolution programme this sector is working under District Nazims and now they could make plan according to their priorities.

He said that the government was releasing funds to the district governments in this connection.
