Punjab names 36 players

LAHORE Oct 20: Thirty-six junior players were selected from Punjab after four-day national hockey trials at the National Hockey Stadium from Oct 15 to 18.

The final trials to be participated by the players picked from all over the country are scheduled to be held here from Nov 13 to 15.

The selected players will form the Pakistan junior team which will take part in the World Junior Cup to be held in 2004.

Meanwhile, a short training camp for the players selected from Punjab started here Saturday. It will conclude on Oct 27.  

Selected players from Punjab are:

Goalkeepers: Mohammad Kashif, Bilal, Mubeen, Waqas.

Full-backs: Kashif Ali, Shahzad Aslam, Ghulam Abbas,  Faisal Akbar, Majid Hussain, Imran Manzoor.

Half-backs: Bilal Saeed, Irshad Husain, Shahid Waseem, Abbas, Mohammad Akhtar, Ejaz, Aamir Shahzad, Ibrar Husain, Sajjad Anwar, Shabbir.

Outside-rights: Zahid, Waqas Sharif, Imran Saghir, Asif Bilal.

Inside-rights: Niaz Ahmed, Tajjamul Husain, Nisar Aslam, Wajid Ali.

Centre-forwards: Sadeqeen, Anis-ur-Rahman, Mohammad Arif.

Inside-lefts: Azam, Saleem.

Outside-lefts: Waseem, Saboor and Taufiq.
