PIA airbus skids off runway


KARACHI, Oct 17: All the 190 passengers, including five children and three infants, besides 12 crew members on board Pakistan International Airline’s Airbus A-300 operating flight PK231 from Peshawar were “safely evacuated” after the aircraft encountered an incident and rolled off the runway after landing at Dubai International Airport early Wednesday at 3.05am.

A PIA press release issued in Karachi this afternoon said that no injury had been reported in the incident. As all the passengers remained “unharmed” they were allowed to leave for their places of abode. According to preliminary information received in Karachi, the right-hand landing gear, Number 2 engine and flaps of the Airbus A-300 were “damaged”.—PPI
