LARKANA, Oct 16: The cases of dog-bite are on the rise in Larkana amid the non-availability of anti-rabies vaccine (ARV) in Chandka Medical College Teaching Hospital and the District Health Office.
The CMCH sources on Tuesday told this correspondent that a telegram to the executive director of National Institute of Health, Islamabad, had been sent, urging him to send 100 vials of ARV to meet the demand, but the CMCH was yet to receive the consignment.
This is not the first telegram sent to the NIH, the hospital sources said, adding that time and again such cables were being sent to the NIH. At least for the last 10 days the ARV is not available in Larkana district.
The casualty department of the CMCH regularly receives six to 10 cases of dog-bite and the number continues to swell.
PASSENGERS ROBBED: Eight armed highway bandits on Tuesday intercepted a Karachi-bound passenger coach near Mirokhan, deprived its passengers of their valuables, injured one Ali Haider Brohi and escaped.
The coach was stopped near village Raees Bhambho Khan some 15 kilometres off here by the outlaws who at gunpoint robbed the passengers of cash and jewellry.
Police arrived at the scene late. The SSP of Larkana, Ghulam Nabi Memon, immediately suspended the SHO of Mirokhan police station, Noor Ahmed Sohryani, on the charges of negligence and asked him to report to the police headquarters.
INJURED: Unidentified culprits on Tuesday barged into the house of Fida Hussain Khokhar in Massan locality of Shahdadkot.
They injured Fida Hussain, Zohra and Raza Hussain and decamped with looted cash and jewellry.
Fida Hussain Khokhar was admitted to the CMCH Larkana.
