KASUR, Oct 16: Seventy farmers were booked for water theft on Tuesday.
An irrigation department team raided Manorian, Chamber and Fateh Muhammad Khurd villages and found Arsal Khan, Sultan, Tufail and 67 others stealing water.
Kanganpur police registered cases against the farmers on the complaint of irrigation SDO Muhammad Asif.
MANHANDLED: Consumers allegedly manhandled a Wapda lineman at Harchoky village in Chunian on Tuesday.
According to details, lineman Rana Muhammad Idrees had gone to remove the electricity meter of Zulfiqar Ali, reportedly owing to non-payment of dues. Zulfiqar and two other men exchanged hot words with Idrees and thrashed him.
They also allegedly snatched Rs2,500 from Idrees.
Chunian police have registered a case.
ABDUCTED: A married woman was abducted from Saraiser Hithar village, Ilahabad, on Tuesday.
According to details, Muhammad Ishaq and his accomplice entered the house of Mansha in his absence and forcibly took away his wife.
The culprits also took away gold ornaments and cash worth thousands of rupees. A case was registered.
