CHITRAL, Oct 15: Jamaat-i-Islami and Islami Jamiat-i-Talaba workers took out a procession here on Monday to protest against the US-led attacks on Afghanistan.
Led by NWFP JI chief Prof Mohammad Ibrahim, the procession turned into a rally at the Ataliq Chowk.
Speaking to the protesters, Prof Ibrahim, Mir Makhzanuddin, Maulana Israruddin Al-Hilal and others expressed grave concern and anguish over the US-led attacks on Taliban targets in Afghanistan.
Expressing solidarity with the Taliban, they vowed to stand by the Taliban and extend all possible help to them.
The speakers demanded that the government withdraw its support to the US against Afghanistan.
Adds our Mingora correspondent: Tehrik-i-Nifaz-i-Shariat-i-Muhammadi has decided to send its workers to Afghanistan to help the Taliban counter the US-led attacks on Taliban.
“Amirul Momineen Mulla Umer has asked them to wait and see for some more days. He (Mulla Umer) said if the land war started then people should participate in the holy war, but during the air strikes there is no need for that,” a Tehrik leader told this correspondent on Saturday.
He said the US forces had crossed all limits and were violating human rights by targeting innocent citizens of Afghanistan on the pretext of war against terrorism.
