FAISALABAD, Oct 11: Speakers at a rally, held by the Defence of Afghan Council Pakistan, threatened on Thursday to launch a campaign against the government for providing ‘air bases to US-led forces’.
The speakers included religious scholars, office-bearers of Jamaat-i-Islami, Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam.
Speaking to the participants in an anti-US rally, they said that the countrywide protest movement would be started within next couple of days.
Hundreds of activists of religious organizations and local traders held a rally for the fourth day on Thursday from Jamia Masjid, Katchery Bazaar, to clock tower intersection.
The speakers expressed solidarity with the Taliban and condemned US attacks on Afghanistan and criticized the government for its foreign policy. They urged the rulers to stop what they called ‘media trial’ of the Taliban.
Meanwhile, Ahle Hadith Youth Force also announced that they would launch jihad against the US and offer all sorts of sacrifices for the Taliban.
In a statement on Thursday, office-bearers of the force vowed to participate in all anti-US rallies to express solidarity with Taliban.
GUJRANWALA: Religious parties and jihadi organizations besides the office-bearers of the District Bar Association have planned to take out processions on Friday to protest against US-led attacks on Afghanistan.
It was decided at a joint meeting of various religious parties and jihadi organizations on Thursday that the procession would be taken out after Juma prayer.
The activists of the Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP) and student wings of religious organizations also decided to take out a procession.
The Gujranwala District Bar has expressed anguish over the killing of innocent peoples and destruction of public property in Afghanistan.
The Bar, at a meeting presided over by its president Naveed Anwar Naveed on Thursday, demanded that the US should immediately stop attacks on Afghanistan.
The meeting adopted a resolution unanimously against the US, demanding that the attacks on Afghanistan should be stopped immediately.
“It is an act of terrorism and a conspiracy against Islam,” the resolution said.
The meeting criticized the government for facilitating the US-led forces to attack Afghanistan.
It was decided to take out a protest procession against the government on Friday (today) at 11am. Countrywide strikes would also be observed against the US and its allies.
