HYDERABAD, Oct 11: Rich tributes were paid to Agha Taj Mohammed, the first registrar of the University of Sindh for his services in the cause of education at his 42nd death anniversary at Pir Hissamuddin Auditorium, Allama I.I Qazi campus, Jamshoro, on Wednesday.
It was organized by the Institute of Sindhology, University of Sindh.
In his presidential address, the vice chancellor, Sindh University, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui said that the pivotal role played by Agha Saheb in establishing Sindh University could never be forgotten by the people of the country, especially Sindh.
He said that Mr Agha had served as the first registrar of Sindh University for 12 years, was a pioneer in the field of education, and himself was a teacher par excellence and an author of many books.
He said that Mr Agha, who had also worked as the head of the education department in Khairpur state, took keen personal interest in the welfare of students coming from rural areas and poor families.
He said Mr Agha had devoted his entire life to the cause of education.
He announced that the Agha Taj Mohammed corner would be established in the Institute of Sindhology and expressed hope that his family would provide the necessary material for it.
He further announced that the Agha Taj Mohammed Park at the university colony would be developed and renovated.
The VC stressed the need for writing a comprehensive history of Sindh University and offered to provide documents.
