Karachi hockey squad rewarded

KARACHI, Jan 3 The Gulshan Town Administration, in a bid to encourage hockey talent at the district level, has rewarded the recently-concluded NBP Sindh Inter-district Hockey Tournament's victorious Karachi squad Rs100,000.

This was announced by Karachi Hockey Association's (KHA) President Wasay Jalil at a KHA session held at the Gulshan Town Council Hall on Sunday.

It was also decided at the meeting to keep a 20-player Karachi squad available for various tournaments this year.

Meanwhile, the KHA president announced the launching of a new tournament, the Ifitkhar Syed Academy Inter-club hockey tournament, to commence from Jan 25 at the new Desso Turf ground of the academy named after the former Olympian.
