Zimbabwe ODIs: BD recall Razzak, Shahadat
DHAKA, Oct 22 Seasoned bowlers Abdur Razzak and Shahadat Hossain were on Thursday included in a 14-man Bangladesh squad to face Zimbabwe in the One-day International series from next week.
Left-arm spinner Razzak and seamer Shahadat Hossain were declared fit after missing the previous series in Zimbabwe in August.
Shakib Al Hasan, 22, named international player of the year by Wisden magazine this month, will continue to lead Bangladesh in the absence of the injured Mashrafe Mortaza.
Shakib led Bangladesh to their maiden Test series victory against West Indies in July after replacing Mashrafe midway through the first match.
Under Shakib's leadership, Bangladesh also won the subsequent limited-overs series 3-0 and beat Zimbabwe 4-1 in a one-day series in August.
Mashrafe underwent surgery on both knees in Australia and would not be able to start bowling again until the second week of November, chief selector Rafiqul Alam said.
“He [Mashrafe] is not definitely playing against Zimbabwe in this series,” Rafiqul told reporters.
The first three matches against Zimbabwe will be played in Dhaka on Oct 27, 29 and 31, before the teams travel to Chittagong for the last two games on Nov 3 and 5.
Squad Shakib Al Hasan (captain), Mushfiqur Rahim, Tamim Iqbal, Junaid Siddique, Mohammad Ashraful, Raqibul Hassan, Mahmudullah, Naeem Islam, Enamul Haque, Rubel Hossain, Dollar Mahmud, Shahadat Hossain, Abdur Razzak, Nazmul Hossain.—Agencies
