KARACHI: Qaim seeks performance reports from MNAs

KARACHI, Aug 16 Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said the pro forma, which was issued by the Pakistan People's Party chairman to all party senators and members of national and provincial assemblies to assess their performance, should be filled in and returned to the authorities concerned.

Talking to the members of the national assembly elected from Sindh at the CM House on Sunday, Mr Shah, who is also the provincial chief of his party, said that the progress reports should be submitted back to the chairman, secretary-general and provincial chief of the party.

He said the government was striving to make progress in every sector, particularly for the development and welfare of youth and women. He said that steps were initiated to empower women in government departments and institutions.

Besides, he added, the Benazir Bhutto Income Support Programme was launched, which would benefit half a million women in Sindh.

He said that 35,000 persons, including 1,500 lady doctors, had been given jobs and 43,000 youths were being imparted training in different trades under the Benazir Bhutto Youth Development Programme.

The chief minister also talked about gas, power and road projects under implementation in some villages of Sindh.

MNA Faryal Talpur acknowledged the efforts for provision of better opportunities to women on a priority basis in every field. She advised MNAs and MPAs to maintain a close liaison with people in their respective constituencies.
