BHC dissatisfied over performance of prosecution in ATCs

QUETTA, March 31 A division bench of the Balochistan High Court on Wednesday expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of prosecution in anti-terrorism courts and directed the provincial government's administrative officers and police officials to take corrective steps.

The bench comprising Chief Justice Qazi Faez Issa and Syeda Tahira Safdar was hearing a suo motu notice pertaining to target killings in the province.

They expressed regrets that only 13 of 133 suspects were convicted in anti-terrorism courts. Many of the accused could not be convicted simply due to the poor performance of the investigating and prosecuting officers, the court observed.
