BISE to challenge LHC verdict
MULTAN, July 24 The governing body of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Multan, in a meeting on Friday decided to move the Supreme Court against the decision of the Lahore High Court (LHC), Multan bench, that directs the board authorities to call 56 candidates for interview for 39 posts of junior clerks instead of 38 candidates.
About 18 applicants filed a petition in the LHC stating that they appeared in a typing speed test held on May 23 for the posts of junior clerks and a test conducting committee declared them successful.
A list of 56 applicants was announced by the board administration, however, the board chairman postponed the interviews to be held on May 25 “due to political pressure” and set June 1 for interviews besides calling the candidates whose typing speed was 30 words per minute for interview.
They said the board administration had prepared three lists with 38, 56 and 101 candidates. They said that the administration had dropped their names to make sure the appointment of the “recommended” 38 candidates.
On July 17, the court directed the board administration to entertain the 56 candidates.
Board chairman Prof Nawaz Javed told Dawn that there was no record of application and typing test of the petitioners and calling these petitioners for interview would be an act of out of way
