Cheques for Gojra families

TOBA TEK SINGH, Aug 15 Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan on Saturday gave away 149 cheques worth Rs100,000 each to the affected Christians of Chak 95-JB, Korian, and Christian Colony.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had announced during his two recent visits to Gojra that not only houses of the affected Christians would be built but they would also be financially helped.

Rana Sana later said at an “inter-religion peace conference” at the TMA hall that both Muslims and Christians had realised after Gojra violence that peace is the need of the hour. He said the religious scholars were trying to create harmony in Gojra, which was a good omen.

Seewa Singh and Kirta Singh of Nankana Sahib said the minorities in Pakistan had no complaint of discrimination but the Gojra incident had brought infamy to Pakistan due to “nefarious designs of some elements.” They urged the Muslims and the Christians to live in harmony. — Correspondent
