KHAIRPUR, Nov 28 The Sindh Hari Committee has expressed concern that seed and fertiliser have not been provided to flood-affected people for Rabbi season 80 per cent of whom are small peasants.

At a meeting of its central committee, the farmers' body alleged mismanagement in issuing Watan Cards, and said that the cards were being issued to influential people poor people.

It demanded that large areas owned by landlords for hunting should be distributed among landless peasants, adding that economic wellbeing of haris depended on the abolition of feudal system.

The meeting demanded winding up of the Sindh Irrigation and Drainage Authority and establishment of irrigation system in Thar area.

Expressing concern over recent torturing of two peasants to death, the meeting demanded formation of an inquiry commission. It called upon the government to ensure payment of compensation by landlords to the heirs of the victims.

The meeting also demanded tax exemption on agricultural machinery.

It said that hunting of wild birds and animals should be banned because their number was fast declining.

The meeting was presided over by committee president Comrade Mandhal Shar and attended by Damro Mal, Sattar Ghoto, Imdad Kazi, Mohammad Saleh Seelro and Menhon Khan Soz Baroch.
