Five of family die in road accident

SIALKOT, March 13 Five family members were killed when their car collided with a mini-truck near the BRB canal bridge on Daska-Gujranwala Road in Daska on Saturday.

Reports said Faisal Mahmood, an exporter, and his family were returning to the city from Multan by a car when the incident happened. Consequently, Mahmood, 33, wife Sana, 30, daughter Aman, 3, eight-month-old son Abdul Karim and brother Yasir Mahmood, 25, died on the spot.

Daska police have registered a case against the fleeing truck driver.

INJURED Two constables were shot at and injured seriously by three robbers on resistance during a dacoity bid near Pulli Begowala in Sambrial tehsil on Saturday.

Reports said constables Ashfaq and Ashiq were returning to their homes after duty on a motorcycle when the robbers intercepted them at a picket. On offering resistance, the robbers injured them seriously with gunshot fires and escaped.

They were admitted to DHQ Hospital in Sialkot where their condition was stated to be critical.

Begowala police have registered a case.
