PML-N to decide candidate for NA-55 next week

RAWALPINDI, Sept 19 The Pakistan Muslim League (N) will announce its candidate for NA-55 next week after the return of its leader Muhammad Nawaz Sharif from Saudi Arabia.

Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and PML leader, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, said on Saturday that the decision would be announced by taking into confidence those who have deposited applications for the party's ticket along with security.

All applicants and party workers will support the candidate whose name will be finalised by the party leadership, he said while speaking at the party convention held at Punjab House.

Mr Khan claimed the PLM-N had its popularity maintained and its candidate would defeat the rivals in the constituency. He asked the party workers to work for the unity of the party, pledging that their genuine issues will be solved.

Criticizing former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, he said national exchequer was mercilessly looted during the rule of PML-Q.

He claimed that the prevailing crisis was result of the financial malpractices of the previous rule and that leaders of the PML-Q were issuing misleading statements about the current situation.

Describing party workers as assets, Chaudhry Nisar said their profile would

not only be elevated but further enhanced. Development projects in the city would be completed through MPA development funds, he added.

The workers' convention was attended among others by all leading local leaders, MNAs and MPAs of the party.
