Re-appointment of professors flayed

HYDERABAD, March 10 Re-appointment of retired officials and professors by vice-chancellors of public sector universities is a violation of constitution and against the rules and laws governing institutions of higher education.

This was communicated by the Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (APUASA) to governor Sindh, a copy of which was also obtained by Dawn.

Association's General Secretary Prof Badar Soomro in the message stated that the emergency powers of vice-chancellors do not empower them to appoint those who had attained superannuation. Calling it a burden on budget he said that it tantamount to misappropriation of public money.
