Sialkot boys` second autopsy on 23rd

SIALKOT, Sept 18 The second autopsy of Hafiz Mughees and his brother Muneeb Butt, who were lynched by a mob on Aug 15 in Buttar village near here, will be held under the supervision of a special medical board on Sept 23.

Lynched boys' uncle Muhammad Zarar Butt told Dawn on Saturday that no Sialkot-based doctor would be on the board.

Earlier, the second autopsy was scheduled to be held on Sept 14, but a local court deferred this on a petition filed by the grieving family, which had expressed dissatisfaction over the formation of the medical board and said that all those doctors who had conducted the first autopsy were again on the board to conduct the second autopsy.

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry had expressed dissatisfaction over the first autopsy, saying the police and doctors had tried to conceal the facts. The CJP had also ordered the second autopsy.

Butt also said that police would produce the challan of the case before Anti-Terrorism Court No-II on Sept 22.

According to officials, the police have completed all formalities to produce the challan before the said court.

They said the police have shifted 21 suspects, including inspector Rana Ilyas, from Sialkot District Jail to Gujranwala's Central Jail on the directives of the provincial government.

However, former district police officer Waqar Ahmad Chohan and main suspect, Shafiq, alias Fauji, are still in the Sialkot jail.
