Teachers services lauded

RAWALPINDI, March 16: The minister for information and media development, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, has called for focusing on personality development of a child to prepare him/her for challenges in later life.

The minister was speaking at the Montessori graduation ceremony at a private school here on Sunday.

He said mother and teacher were the main assets for a child, adding, they do play a pivotal role in their personality development. “The child needs full attention and care of his/her mother and teachers to learn and develop skills,” he added.

He said the child ought to be given the ‘freedom of action’ in order to develop his skills by involving in extra-curricular activities.

“The tender age requires that a child be given the chance to develop and groom without any fear or restriction,” he added.

He lauded the role and service of teachers in the private sector despite certain problems being faced by them.

Mr Ahmed said mother and teacher nurture a nation and their crucial role could not be ignored for achieving the goal of a developed and strong nation.

He said computer would revolutionize the entire educational sector in the days ahead, adding the ‘structures and buildings’ will become less important.

The minister for information said he decided to set up schools and colleges in backward area of the city in order to bring them on a par with developed localities of Rawalpindi.—APP
