SUKKUR Feb 27: The people of the Dhakhan village on Wednesday staged demonstrations in front of the Kashmor police station and the office of the DPO, Jacobabad, against the police’s refusal to register an FIR after a 70-year-old man, Mithoo, was killed under the pretext of Karo-kari.
Later, DPO Jacobabad ordered the Kashmor police to register the FIR in this regard.
Earlier, Mithoo had been asked by some people of the same village, who had visited his house, to accompany them to Guddu to participate in a Jirga.
It was learnt that the same persons had shot Mithoo dead after they arrived at Guddu and disposed his dead body in a canal.
The same persons are also reported to have killed a woman, Gohar Khatoon, wife of Ghulam Ali, on charges of committing adultery with Mithoo.
The relatives of the deceased had come to know about the murder on Thursday morning and recovered Mithoo’s corpse from the canal and had brought it to the Kashmor police station.
However, the police refused to register an FIR, saying that the incident had occurred in Guddu.
Later, the police booked Ghulam Hussain, Gul Hassan, Haji Yar Ali and others in connection with the murder of Mithoo.
CLASH: Ten persons were injured on Wednesday in an armed clash between members of the Shar, Pitafi, and Shaikh tribes over the construction of shops on irrigated land in Ghotki district.
Fighting ensued after some members of the Shaikh tribe began constructing shops over a piece of irrigated land without any prior permission.
The Pitafi and Shar tribesmen, who also reside in the same general area, raised objections on the construction of the shops, which quickly turned into an armed clash.
Later, the police stopped the on-going construction and deployed a large number of policemen on the site.
The injured, included Wali Mohammed, Qudratullah, Ali Akhter Shaikh, Ali Nawaz Shaikh, Mohammed Ali Shaikh and Akber Ali Shaikh.
The Mirpur Belo police have registered an FIR against 18 persons belonging to the three groups.

The deceased were identified as Zarina, Mumtaz, Javed, Mueena, Siani, Hazoor Khatoon and Nadia and Ghulam Mustafa (all Chohans by caste).
