Girl killed in clash over flag hoisting

KARACHI May 7: A teenager girl was shot dead during a clash over hoisting of a party flag in North Nazimabad on Tuesday, said Shahrah-i-Noorjehan police.

Some party workers were trying to put up their party flag on a building in Block-T of North Nazimabad but their attempt was resisted by a private guard posted there.

The police said that the initial altercation between them turned violent when one of them opened fire. As a result of firing, 14-year-old Uzma, daughter of Sarwar, who was passing through the area sustained bullet wounds, said SHO Nisar Lodhi.

She was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced her dead.

Man killed

A young man was gunned down in the Pakhtunabad area of Manghopir on Tuesday, police said.

They added that Imran, 26, was targeted near his home in a drive-by shooting.

Shooting near Zamzama

A man was shot at and wounded near Zamzama Park, police said.

They added that Qamar Abbas, 28, was shot at and wounded when he tried to resist an armed robbery.
