Remand of DHA murder case suspects extended

KARACHI, May 6: A judicial magistrate on Monday extended the physical remand of two suspects in a teenager murder case.

Mohammad Shoaib was arrested on the charge of killing Hamza Ahmed on the night of April 27 in Defence Housing Authority and later his driver, Mushtaq, was apprehended. Both were then handed over to police by a court on physical remand.

On Monday, the suspects were produced before the court of a judicial magistrate (south) and the investigating officer of the case sought extension in their remand. The IO informed the magistrate that as per court order, a medical board had been constituted for ossification test of Shoaib to determine his age. He added that a security guard of Shoaib, Amal, who was the main suspect, was still a large.

The magistrate extended the remand by two days.

According to the prosecution, the victim was accused of harassing a female friend of Shoaib and they met outside a restaurant in the DHA to settle the matter, but an altercation between them allegedly prompted Shoaib’s guard to kill Hamza.

A case was registered under Sections 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code at the Darakhshan police station.
