Traffic inspector shot

ISLAMABAD, March 28: A police inspector was shot on Thursday night when he tried to intercept a vehicle, police said.

According to the details, Inspector of Traffic Police Ehsan Elahi was patrolling at Expressway when a car driver complained about two motorcycle riders who had snatched valuables from him.

In response, the inspector chased the motorcycle and succeeded in intercepting it near KRL Chowk. However, one of the riders started firing at the inspector, which resulted in a leg injury. The riders escaped from the spot, but the inspector immediately informed the police control about the vehicle.

In another instance, a car was intercepted by a police team at a checkpoint in Dongi Kasi near Simly Dam. The police signaled it to stop but its riders, which included a woman, started firing at them and sped away.

In retaliation, the police also fired at the vehicle and chased it. In the process, one of the riders was injured and was arrested, while his accomplices managed to escape from the scene after leaving him behind.

The injured was shifted to the hospital where he was being given medical assistance till the filing of this report.—Staff Reporter
