Five booked for shaving youth’s head, eyebrows

SIALKOT, March 24: The Begowala police registered a case against five people, including a woman, for shaving the head, eyebrows and mustaches of a youth and parading him in streets in Doburji Chanda Singh-Begowala village in Sambrial tehsil on Saturday.

Reports said that influential accused, including lumberdar Rizwanul Haq, in a punchayat announced shaving the head, eyebrows and mustaches of Ali Riaz (26) as a punishment for leveling ‘baseless allegations’ of bad character on married woman Mussarat Bibi. Barber Sultan Ahmed did the job.

The ‘jurists’ forced the victim to parade in village streets and also ordered him and his family to leave the village.

Police registered a case under section 337-V/500 PPC against jury head Rizwanul Haq, barber Sultan Ahmed, Zafar Sharif, Mussarat Bibi and another accused on the report of Riaz Malik, the victim’s father.

Sambrial DSP Muhammad Nawaz told reporters that raids were being conducted for the arrest of the accused.
