Rs2.5m grant for KBA announced

KARACHI, March 18: Sindh Chief Minister on Monday lauded the role of lawyers for the restoration and strengthening of democracy in the country and announced a grant of Rs2.5 million for the welfare of Karachi bar members.

He made the announcement in a meeting with a 15-member delegation of the Karachi Bar Association that called on him at the CM House.

Earlier, KBA President Naeem Qureshi discussed with the chief minister problems being faced by bar members.

The chief minister said he himself belonged to the lawyers’ community and struggled for democracy and the restoration of the constitution.

Separately, a 12-member delegation of the Sindh High Court Bar Association led by Mustafa Lakhani called on the chief minister.

Among others, Sindh Law Minister Ayaz Soomro and Social Welfare Minister Nargis N.D. Khan attended the meeting.

The chief minister listened to the problems of the high court bar association and assured the lawyers’ representatives that all the problems being faced by the bar would be resolved soon.

Among other issues, grant of land for members and financial assistance were discussed in the meeting.—PPI
