MQM's Syed Sardar Ahmed appointed new opposition leader in Sindh

KARACHI: Following the Governor's acceptance of the resignations submitted by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) provincial ministers and advisors, the Speaker of Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmed Khoro issued a notification for the appointment of Syed Sardar Ahmed as the new opposition leader on Tuesday, DawnNews reported.

According to a notification issued by the office of Speaker Sindh Assembly, Syed Sardar Ahmed was appointed as the leader of the opposition bench after receiving a request signed by the MQM's 52 provincial lawmakers.

Earlier today Sindh’s Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan accepted on Tuesday the resignations of MQM's provincial ministers and advisors.

The MQM lawmakers had submitted their resignations to the provincial governor on Feb 17, a day after the party moved out of government in the centre and Sindh and decided to sit in the opposition.
