President, PM briefed on security situation

ISLAMABAD, Jan 13: President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Zafarullah Khan Jamali attended a briefing about the fast-changing regional and international security situation, held at the Foreign Ministry here on Monday.

The top leadership of the country was briefed in detail on the current national and international foreign policy issues, by Foreign Secretary Riaz Khokar during the first such meeting.

The two leaders were informed of the problems being faced by Pakistanis because of the new immigration and registration rules announced by the United States recently.

They were also informed of the latest developments on Iraq and North Korea.

The president and the prime minister are said to have found the briefing very useful as it specially focussed on the developments related to Iraq and North Korea.

The two leaders are reported to have expressed satisfaction over the policies being pursued by the foreign ministry, and asked it to be more vigilant.

The meeting was also attended by Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri, Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, all Services Chiefs and senior military and civil officials.
