Ali Iqbal shines in final

KARACHI, Dec 30: A splendid all-round performance by Ali Iqbal enabled Macter Pharma claim the New A.J. Sports Multinational Champions League Twenty 20 cricket title with a 16-run victory over Sindh High Court Green in the final played at the Naya Nazimabad Cricket Ground here on Sunday.

After deciding to bat first upon winning the toss, Macter Pharma made 149-6 in their allotted 20 overs. Ali Iqbal struck a sparkling 57 from just 30 balls with the help of four boundaries and a brace of sixes. Mohammad Mati-ur-Rehman contributed 37 that included two fours and one six.

Off-spinners Ali Naqi (3-14), Nasir Qureshi (2-25) and medium-pacer Muzammil Iqbal took bulk of the wickets for Sindh High Court Green.

Sindh High Court Green, in reply, finished at 133-7. Ali Naqi blasted five sixes and four fours in a quickfire 50 from only 20 deliveries, Sultan Majeed scored 36 with two sixes and as many fours, while skipper Mohammad Ibrahim 25 (three boundaries) and Sajid Pachio (23) made useful contributions but in vain.

Man-of the-Match Ali Iqbal, who was also adjudged the competition’s best all-rounder a well as the best batsman, starred with the ball as well to claim three wickets for 25 runs with his off-spinners.

Syed Sadaqat Ali Shah, a senior official of the Sindh High Court, was the chief guest at the final and distributed the prizes.
