Man held for three doctors’ murder

KARACHI, Dec 27: The anti-extremist cell of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) claimed on Thursday to have arrested a man for his alleged involvement in the murder of three doctors in Shikarpur earlier this year.

According to a statement issued by the CID, the police arrested Ramzan Bhaio near the Mauripur truck stand and an AK-47 assault rifle was seized from him.

The statement said that the accused confessed to have killed Dr Ashok Kumar, Dr Adeeb Kumar and Dr Naveed Kumar for not paying extortion money in November 2011.

The doctors had been killed when gunmen fired at their clinics in Shikarpur.

A case (FIR74/2011) had been registered under Sections 302 (premeditated murder), 324 (attempted murder), 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint), 384 (extortion) and 511 (attempt to commit offence punishable with life in prison) by the Chak police station, Shikarpur district.
