Two killed in dispute over farmland

SUKKUR, Nov 26: Two persons belonging to the Sawand community fell victim to a six-year-old dispute with the Sabzoi community over a piece of agriculture land.They were gunned down in the area within the remit of the Bakhshapur police station in Kandhkot-Kashmore district on Monday.

Muhammad Ali Sawand and his cousin Nangar Sawand, both residents of Jam Wahi village in Kandhkot, went to the Bakhshapur area to collect a husk stock. When they reached the spot, dozens of unidentified armed persons hiding there kidnapped the two relatives and after covering a distance of three kilometres killed them. The assailants are said to be members of the Sabzoi community.

The local police took the bodies into custody and shifted them to Bakhshapur hospital.

Later, they were handed over to relatives after a post-mortem. A case was registered.

Kandhkot-Kashmore SSP Umar Salamat told Dawn the attackers had crossed the Sindh border towards Balochistan after the crime and a police party had been sent for their arrest.
