Two ‘captors’ held, victim recovered

KARACHI, Nov 14: Two suspected kidnappers were arrested and a kidnapping victim was recovered during a raid carried out by the Anti-Violent Crime Cell with the assistance of the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee in Shah Faisal Colony on Wednesday, police said.

CPLC chief Ahmed Chinoy said 21-year-old Nabeel-ul-Hasan was kidnapped in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Nov 5 when he was going to pick up his sister from school. The kidnappers also took away his car.

The following day, the family received a phone call from kidnappers demanding a ransom of Rs50 million, said the CPLC chief.

“While working on the case, the police picked a suspect and during interrogation he revealed the location where the boy had been kept. Subsequently, the police and the CPLC raided the place in Shah Faisal Colony, recovered the boy and arrested a suspect,” said SP Niaz Ahmed Khosa of the AVCC. “The ransom calls were made from Hyderabad while the boy was kept in Karachi. We are trying to arrest the suspect who was making the calls from Hyderabad,” the SP added.

“This is the fifth recovery of a kidnapping victim during November,” AVCC SP Niaz Khosa said.
