‘Kidnappers’ arrested, hostage released

SUKKUR, Nov 14: The Sukkur police recovered a kidnapping victim and arrested three alleged kidnappers after an encounter on Wednesday.

Speaking at a press conference, Sukkur SSP Pir Muhammad Shah said that the police had received a tip-off that a resident of Pannu Aqil, Abdul Fatah Qazi, who had been kidnapped around a week ago in Rohri, was being moved to another location late Monday night.

He said that the police cordoned off the area within the jurisdiction of Site and Qadirpur police stations and started searching all the passing vehicles. The passengers of one car opened fire on the police who retaliated, and the ensuing encounter continued for about half an hour.

The kidnapping victim was recovered, said SSP Shah, and the suspected kidnappers were identified as Nadeem Khoso, Nawaz Khoso and Rustam Shar. The police also found two AK-47 assault rifles, two TT pistols and more than 100 bullets from the men and took them into custody.

Two accomplices, Asad and Lutufallah Khoso, escaped during the encounter and the police were looking for them, he added.
