Guard killed in botched bank heist

KARACHI, Oct 24: A private security guard was killed in a botched bank heist in Gizri on Wednesday, police said.

They added that five armed men entered a branch of Bank Al Habib Ltd located in the main Gizri commercial area.

The guard, Mohammad Waryam, 40, resisted when the bandits tried to snatch his weapon. While he overpowered one of the bandits, the accomplice of the latter fired three shots at the guard and fled.

The wounded guard was rushed to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where he died during treatment, the police said.
