Man commits suicide

TIMERGARA, Oct, 21: A man committed suicide by shooting himself with a pistol at Maidan Bandai village of Lower Dir on Saturday night, police told Dawn. The victim was identified as Rafiullah son of Qazi Mulla. The motive behind the suicide could not be ascertained. The Lal Qila police have started investigation into the case. — Correspondent

Jewellery shop looted

NOWSHERA, Oct 21: Unidentified dacoits looted a jewellery shop at gunpoint on Pabbi-Cherat road here on Sunday and decamped with gold worth millions of rupees.

Police said that four armed men came on two motorcycles and entered the Siraj Jewellery Shop on Pabbi-Charat road at around 8.45am. The dacoits held the shopkeeper and his employees at gunpoint and collected the jewellery.

The shop owners, Siraj and Tela, told police that the dacoits took away 80 tolas of gold bars and precious stones.

The police reached the spot soon after receiving the information and cordoned off the G.T. Road. No arrests had been made till the filing of this report. —Correspondent

Supplementary exam result

KOHAT, Oct 21: The controller of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Kohat, has said that the result of supplementary examination of 10th class would be announced on Oct 24.

A press release issued here said that the BISE had completed all preparations for the result. The gazette would be available at all the camp offices in Kurram and Orakzai Agencies, Hangu, Thall, Karak and Kohat for Rs600. which could be deposited in the National Bank of Pakistan branch of BISE, Kohat. —Correspondent

Probe against MNA demanded

KHAR, Oct 21: President of PPP-Nazriati Group Habibur Rahman has alleged that the MNA from Bajaur Agency, Akhunzada Chattan, was involved in misuse of funds meant for the area development.

Talking to media persons here on Sunday, Habibur Rahman alleged that only relatives of the MNA and party members close to him were being facilitated from the development funds provided by the federal government. He demanded of the government and the local administration to take notice of the issue and order a thorough probe. —Correspondent

Office-bearers

PESHAWAR, Oct 21: Riaz Anjum and Musharraf Ali were nominated president and general secretary respectively of the Khyber Photo Journalists Association here on Sunday.

A meeting of the election committee comprising Sajjad Khayal and Khurram Pervaiz held at the press club after which it announced that all the office-bearers of KPJA had been elected unopposed for a period of one year.

Maqsood Ahmad was nominated as vice-president, Mohammad Hanzala as joint secretary and Sikandar Shah as secretary finance while Qari Ziaul Islam, Umar Qayyum, Khurram Jalil and Hussain Ali were nominated as members of the governing body. —Bureau Report
