Irregularities: Ombudsman summons Stevta MD

LARKANA, Oct 21: The provincial Ombudsman has summoned the managing director and regional directors of the Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Stevta) on Oct 24 in connection with alleged irregularities in appointments.

Petitioner Raza Ali Bhatti informed the ombudsman that after meeting the criteria he had applied for the post of deputy assistant director (finance) (BPS-16) and was short-listed along with 44 other candidates. For final interview, only 21 candidates were called on June 14, 2012, but the final results were announced.

Even some persons, who had neither taken the written test nor appeared in the interview, had been appointed, the petitioner said.

Syed Qamar Raza Naqvi, consultant-B of the provincial ombudsman asked the MD to justify appointment of 14 candidates (names are mentioned in the letter) who had secured less than 20 marks in the NTS test whereas more than 1,000 out of 2,628 candidates securing 55 to 75 marks or above had failed to get jobs in Stevta.
