Four held: stolen rails recovered

LAHORE, Oct 11: Two lengths of stolen rail track have been recovered from a Railways gang man and three others.

A Railways police spokesman said on Thursday the theft of four rail tracks was reported from near the Narang Mandi station on Sept 29. A PR police party, sent from Lahore to investigate into the matter, arrested gang man Mushtaq, Abdul Majeed alias Bagga Butt, junk dealer Abbas Ali and Irfan Ali on Wednesday and recovered two rail track lengths, each measuring 42 feet, from them.

A court granted four-day remand of the accused on Thursday.

Meanwhile, PR Police Inspector-General Syed Ibne Husain directed the Lahore SSP to award commendation certificates to the policemen who arrested the accused and recovered two of the stolen track from them.

He also directed that efforts should be expedited for the recovery of the remaining rail track.
