MANSEHRA, Oct 9: A man and his wife were killed and their son was injured when armed men barged into a house and kidnapped a girl in Battal area in the small hours of Tuesday.

The injured, Mohammad Iqbal, while registering FIR stated that Mohammad Nazir, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Shafique and Shakeel Ahmad entered his house and tried to kidnap his sister Seeman. He said his father Mehboob Jan and mother Zarjan put up resistance, prompting the accused to open fire on them. The couple was killed on the spot while their son Mohammad Iqbal was critically injured.

The injured man told the police the accused kidnapped his sister after the killing and escaped the area while firing in the air.

The bodies were handed over to the family after autopsy at the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital.

Sources said the dual murder was the outcome of a marriage dispute between the two families.

The Battal police after lodging FIR started efforts to apprehend the culprits.

Meanwhile, bodies of two young men were found in different areas on Tuesday.

Police said the body of Zabiullah, hailing from Lower Dir, was found in Darband area, while the body of another man identified as Bashir Ahmad was recovered in Lassain Nawab area.

TEACHERS’ RALLY: The teaching and other staff of Hazara University on Tuesday took out a rally demanding implementation of the decision of 20 per cent increase in the salaries of university employees announced by the federal government in the current budget.

The teaching and other staff, which is on a strike for last two days, also observed the boycott of the classes on third consecutive day.

The male and female staff of the university holding banners and placards marched on roads, raising anti-government slogans and demanding increase in salary.

“Until our salaries are increased as per budget announcement we would continue our strike,” said a protester.

Other protesters said the government had announced 20 per cent raise in salaries of university staff in current budget but Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government did not incase their salaries.
