Three killed in clash over land

DADU, Oct 7: Three people were killed and one was injured seriously in an armed clash between two groups of Lashari and Kalhoro tribesmen over an old dispute of distribution of land at the village of Baidy Lashari and Deenpur near Radhan town some 95kms from here on Sunday evening.

The victims were identified as Abdul Kareem Kalhoro, Munawwar Kalhoro, residents of the village of Deenpur, and Mukhtiyar Ali Lashari of Baidy Lashari.

The injured was identified as Fouji Lashari of the village of Baidy Lashari.

Bodies were lying on the spot and the crossfire between the two groups was continued.

Talking to Dawn on mobile phone from Baidy Lashari, villager Ghulam Ali said armed persons of the Kalhora tribe had attacked their village. They shot dead one person and injured seriously another.

He said the village was surrounded by Kalhora tribesman and firing was going on. He said Radhan police had been informed, but they had not reached yet.

A villager of Deenpur, Ahmed Bux Kalhoro, told local reporters that first Lashari tribesmen had attacked their village and shot dead two villagers.

He said a dispute had started between Kalhoro and Lashari tribesmen on distribution of land some two year ago, which had claimed 35 lives so far.
