Kidnappers’ gang busted

CHAKWAL, Oct 3: Chakwal police busted a gang involved in kidnapping for ransom and many other criminal activities, District Police Officer (DPO) Kashif Mushtaq Kanju said here on Wednesday.

Speaking at a press conference at City Police Station, The DPO said four members of the gang kidnapped an owner of a poultry farm a few days ago and demanded Rs20 million ransom for his release.

Malik Abdul Jalil was returning to Chakwal city on September 26 from his poultry farm. While he was passing by Morred village he was ambushed by four armed persons who kidnapped him.

DPO Kanju said all four kidnappers belonged to Mardan and were identified as Saeed Khan, Bakhtiaruddin, Balqias and Iqbal Shah. “A special team under the command of DSP Chaudhry Abdul Salim was constituted which recovered Malik Abdul Jalil successfully,” he said.

The DPO further said an SMG gun and three pistols were also recovered from the possession of the kidnappers.

“We got to know through primary investigation that the gang has eight to 10 more members who would also be arrested soon,” he said, adding that “the gang is also involved in other criminal activities like robbery etc.”Malik Abdul Jalil thanked the police for his safe recovery, and also announced that he would give cash prize to the police team who recovered him from the kidnappers.
