Injured UTP dies

LARKANA, Oct 1: An under-trial prisoner (UTP) facing charge of drug trafficking, who was admitted in Chandka Medical College Hospital in a precarious condition on Sunday, died in the hospital here on Monday.

The jail superintendent said Darya Khan Umrani, 35, had received serious head injuries when his step brother Imdad Ali Umrani, 25, beaten him with a gas cylinder. Ali is stated to be mentally ill.

Waleed police sent the two brothers to the prison under the charge of drug trafficking.

Nisar Ahmed, jailer of the Central Prison of Larkana, has registered an FIR of murder against UTP Imdad Ali Umrani who will be produced in the court on Tuesday for remand.

The body was handed over to the relatives after a post-mortem.
