UHS declares entrance test results

LAHORE, Sept 28: The University of Health Sciences (UHS) on Friday declared the results of Entrance Test 2012 for admission to medical and dental colleges of Punjab.

A total of 36,100 candidates appeared in the test held on Sept 23, out of whom 16,065 scored more than 60 per cent marks. As many as 5,737 candidates scored 50 to 59 per cent, 5,378 secured 40 to 49 per cent marks while 8,920 candidates scored less than 40 per cent marks.

According to Pakistan Medical and Dental Council’s regulations, the pass/fail criteria has been abolished for entrance test to medical colleges.

Kanza Noor Butt from Gujranwala got the first position by securing 1082/1100 marks whereas Ali Haider Jafry and Awais Raza of Lahore bagged second and third positions by securing 1077 and 1067 marks, respectively. The eligible candidates will compete for 3,305 MBBS and 216 BDS seats in 19 public sector medical and dental colleges, respectively. Besides, there are 3,050 MBBS and 725 BDS seats available in 28 private sector medical and 12 dental colleges.

Admission forms for government medical and dental colleges will be available from Oct 31 to Nov 10. All those candidates who have secured at least 80 per cent aggregate marks according to Pakistan Medical and Dental Council’s formula will be eligible to apply for admission.

The last date for submission of forms will be Nov 10. The first selection list will be displayed on Nov 26, whereas classes in all public sector medical colleges will commence on Dec 13.
